This is an example of what the arrangement of cards would look like mid-game.
These were some of the first few sketches we did to kick off the card design process.
This was our first iteration of the cards. We sketched out the rough design of the card with the characters that we chose to feature on the game. We used a filter that made the cards look black and white which gave a retro feel to the design.
We added a particular design to the back cover of the cards and the font of the letters on the front of the card which reminded us of the older times. In our opinion, it gave an accurate representation of colour schemes that were present in the 80’s. Hence, we decided to stick with this as our back cover as we achieved our intended look.
This was the 3rd iteration of the cards. Initially, we decided to make the cards black and white to give a more retro feel. However, after adding colour we felt that it looked more complete and that we can imitate that retro look through other aspects of the cards.
After going through a myriad of changes in the design of the cards, we finally created one that we thought was perfect for the game. We felt that our target audience would enjoy the design of the cards which was later confirmed by our test players who agreed.
This was the first look at our finalised prototype. My team and I were elated with how the cards turned out and so were our target audience.

PROJECT INFO:
Life Beyond Eternity is a card game designed for patients with mild dementia, to help them stimulate and maintain their cognitive skills. Players get to test their memory over single-player or multiplayer mode, through our various fun and casual game modes. Our card game infuses retro music and artists to evoke a sense of nostalgia for the patients.
