Sensory Experience for Desa Baskoro (Industry Partner: DiDsg)

As the Stage Manager for Desa Baskoro, Haney was responsible in liasing with various departments especially with our counterparts from Diploma in Sonic Art, calling specific script-cues, overseeing rehearsals & shows, and ensuring all crews are properly briefed.

The foliage elements that audiences were able to physically feel, during the show, were hand-picked specifically & pasted, to ensure the best sensorial experience - of being in a forest.

As the production was catered for the visually-impaired, the show design elements were uniquely-designed to evoke the use of the other senses. To ensure the show remains exciting and enhance for the sighted, audiences were given blindfolds, to set themselves mentally for the experience.

As audiences walk through the space, blindfolded, foliage of many kinds welcomed them. Hanging vines, potted plants, bushes, & actual-hand-collected plants from around school greeted the audiences, simulating the environment of a forest. PROJECT INFO:

Our team worked with another team from Diploma in Sonic Arts to design and stage a sensory experience for Dialogue in the Dark Singapore (DiDsg). Desa Baskoro was held at The Republic Cultural Centre (TRCC) Blackbox for both sighted and visually impaired audience. To enhance this unique experience, we fully invoked the four senses (smell, touch, hearing and taste) so that it can appeal emotionally to audiences from all walks of life, including those with visual impairments. Dialogue in the Dark Singapore (DiDsg) is an exclusive collaboration between Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Dialogue Social Enterprise. Founded in Germany, Dialogue in the Dark is a worldwide enterprise that aims to promote social inclusion of the disabled and disadvantaged.
