Universe of Feelings: A Multisensory Theatre Adventure (Industry Partner: Superhero Me)
Improved design from the previous run of Universe Of Feelings, featuring lights on costume and play with textures and shapes.
Using touch stimulating materials to craft the set, the UOF team wanted to allow the set design this year tell the story of how Darryl takes his journey through space. The team wanted to make use of lights and interactive pieces such as cotton clouds to enhance the experience for their audience with special needs.

Our set designers are at work, texturing the moon with expanding foam. They later painted it to create a 3D textile of the moon's surface.
On the day of Bump In, the crew had to rig their draperies and bump in their set-pieces. The props and costume department prepare the backstage area and sorted their items out for technical rehearsal.
Designing the moon was difficult, these are some of the many prototypes the designers did. They were brave and experimented with different types of materials as they wanted to push boundaries and find the perfect material for a stimulating experience.

PROJECT INFO:
Our team worked on the production design and execution for the show, Universe of Feelings 2022. It is a sensory show targeted at children with special needs. We adapted existing designs from the show’s previous runs and came up with new renditions and a fresh set of visuals & concepts. These aided in the visual storytelling and through the show, the audience were able to enjoy theatre in a safe yet whimsical space.
